HIFF 2023 EDITION

The Hope International Film Festival (HIFF)
is an annual festival
officially organized by Hope International Film Festival Association, a non-profit entity based in Europe.The festival’s concept was conceived by its founder and president Fadi El Lawand, a Lebanese-born artist based in Europe.

Article 1:

HIFF aims to create a dialogue between filmmakers and audiences through the art of cinema in order to strengthen cultural relationships between countries through film, and to raise awareness about people with physical or psychological challenges by showcasing films, either about or by them, rising from the five continents. HIFF also sheds the lights on humanistic topics like environment, women, children, war and peace.

 

Article 2:

The 3rd HIFF will be held in the fall of 2023.

 

Article 3:

An advisory committee will recommend films for HIFF under supervision of its Artistic Director. The section under which the film will be screened is to be determined after the approval of the artistic director and the president of the festival. HIFF will accept film submission through its website:and its Film Freeway webpage. Accepted films in this edition are primarily the ones produced between 2022 and 2023.

 

Article 4:

HIFF will screen films under the following competitions:

A- Long Competition for Narratives (with running time that should exceed 60 Minutes).

B- Long Competition for Documentaries (with running time that should exceed 60 Minutes).

C- Short Competition for Narratives and Documentaries (with running time that should be between 15-60 Minutes)

 

Article 5: Film Submissions

The deadline for film submissions is the 1st of September 2023.

 

Article 6:

       – HIFF will assemble three jury committees, one for each competition.

         Each jury committee will consist of three members.

       -The jury committees will have members of prominent personalities in the film industry with established           filmographies

        -No member of the juries should have participated in the production of any participating film.

 

Article 7: The Awards

        – The jury for long narratives films will award:

         Best Long Narrative Film

         Best Actor in a Long Narrative Film

         Best Actress in a Long Narrative Film

         Best Director of a Long Film

         A Special Mention Certificate for Artistic/Technical Achievement

        – The jury for long documentaries films will award:

         Best Long Documentary Film

         Best Director of a Long Documentary Film

         A Special Mention Certificate for Artistic/Technical Achievement

        – The jury for short films will award:

        Best Short Narrative Film

        Best Short Documentary Film

        Best Director of a Short Film

        A Special Mention Certificate for Artistic/Technical Achievement
